BEVERLY HILLS

Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) Institute

A Safe Haven for Gender-Affirming Care

FFS Institute was created to provide a safe, welcoming space for anyone seeking high-quality gender-affirming care.

Every day, Dr. Henry Chen, our founder and lead surgeon, meets patients who have spent years feeling disconnected from the person they see in the mirror. The distress from this mismatch, known as gender dysphoria, is psychological, social, and deeply personal.

At the institute, we understand that facial feminization surgery isn’t about vanity. For many, it’s about survival, confidence, safety, and finally being truly seen.

That’s why we’re here—to bridge the gap between who you are and how the world sees you. Together, we’ll create a look that feels natural and unmistakably you—beautiful, confident, and true.

Our Philosophy of Care

FFS Institute’s philosophy of care is simple: No two faces are alike, and no two transition journeys should be either.

Every procedure, from scalp advancement to feminizing rhinoplasty, is customized to your anatomy, goals, and sense of self.

At the institute, we see facial feminization surgery as a true partnership between you and your surgeon. Listening is at the heart of our care.

We take the time to understand what helps you feel affirmed, what may cause dysphoria, and what you hope to see when you look in the mirror after surgery.

Our Team

At FFS Institute, exceptional outcomes begin with an exceptional team.

Under the leadership of Dr. Chen, every aspect of care—from your first inquiry to your final follow-up—is guided by people who genuinely care about your comfort, safety, and goals.

Our team includes compassionate professionals, such as Meghan, our front office coordinator, who will be your first point of contact.

She schedules appointments and answers your initial questions with warmth and understanding.

Once you decide to move forward with surgery, Emmy, our patient care coordinator, becomes your private concierge.

She handles scheduling, financial details, and communication, ensuring that you have reliable support throughout your journey.

Our Facility

Our surgeons perform all surgeries at Roxbury Surgery Center, a premier, free-standing outpatient facility located in the heart of Beverly Hills’ golden triangle.

Accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) for Medicare,

Roxbury meets some of the highest standards in the country for safety, cleanliness, and quality of care.

Every surgeon and anesthesiologist is board-certified or board-eligible and holds full hospital admitting privileges.

Patients benefit from state-of-the-art surgical technology, flexible scheduling, and a dedicated medical team that shares Dr. Chen’s commitment to precision, empathy, and excellence in every procedure..

MEET DR. HENRY CHEN

Award-Winning Facial Feminization Surgeon in
Beverly Hills, Los Angeles

Henry Chen, MD, MBA, FACS, is a distinguished double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He specializes in face and neck procedures, including facial feminization surgery (FFS), rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, and facial rejuvenation.

With nearly 20 years of clinical exposure and experience, Dr. Chen has helped thousands of patients see the version of themselves they’ve always known inside—confident, radiant, and real.

What truly sets Dr. Chen apart is more than surgical expertise. His patient-first approach to facial feminization is deeply personal and rooted in empathy. He understands that every face tells its own story—and his role is to help you reveal yours.

Dr. Chen doesn’t believe in creating a one-size-fits-all “feminine” look. Instead, he refines, reshapes, and restores facial features in a way that reflects your authentic self.

LIFELONG LEARNING FOR LIFE-CHANGING RESULTS:

Dr. Chen’s Education and Training

Dr. Henry Chen’s journey to becoming one of Beverly Hills’ most trusted facial feminization surgeons began with a foundation of academic excellence and has grown through nearly two decades of hands-on experience, research, and dedication to his patients.

His relentless pursuit of learning has shaped his refined technique for creating graceful, natural-looking results.

He graduated magna cum laude from Rice University, then earned both his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Baylor College of Medicine and an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Rice’s Jones Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Chen completed his Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Colorado, where he served as Chief Resident and earned recognition for his surgical precision and leadership.

His dedication and skill led to one of the most competitive opportunities in the field—an elite fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, awarded to only 40 surgeons nationwide each year.

Dr. Chen completed this prestigious fellowship at both the New England Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center and Albany Medical Center, where he trained under Dr. Edwin F. Williams III, a pioneer in facial plastic surgery and former president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).

Since then, Dr. Chen has completed a five-year ENT (ear, nose, and throat) residency, followed by a one-year facial plastics fellowship, and has maintained an active clinical practice for more than 13 years.

He remains at the forefront of FFS innovation by regularly reviewing medical literature and refining his techniques to ensure patients receive the safest, most natural results possible.

Across platforms like Google, Healthgrades, Vitals, and RateMDs, patients consistently praise Dr. Chen’s artistry, attentiveness, and ability to deliver results that feel both physically empowering and emotionally restorative.

BEYOND THE OR:

Dr. Chen’s Mission to Bring Hope and Healing to Those Who Need Them the Most

For Dr. Chen, few things are more meaningful than providing care to those who might never otherwise have access to safe, high-quality healthcare.

Beyond his work in facial feminization and aesthetic reconstruction, he dedicates part of each year to serving communities in need.

He brings the same level of compassion and precision to every patient, regardless of circumstance.

His humanitarian work includes annual medical missions to Guatemala with HELPS International, where he performs cleft lip, palate, and tumor surgeries for patients in rural areas.

He also participates in Mending Kids’ Hometown Missions in Los Angeles, during which he offers corrective procedures for children with facial differences.

These experiences remind him why he became a doctor in the first place—to help restore dignity, function, and confidence wherever it’s needed most.

“I went into medicine to help others, and I believe in the importance of giving back. Then, the only thing that matters is the patient, and if we can take care of them in the short time that we are there. Being able to give so selflessly brings an incredible amount of joy, happiness, and satisfaction. It reminds me of just how lucky I am to live in the U.S. but also what is really important in life.”
